Photoshoot inspired by: Alice in Wonderland

—————————

Hello lovers

These images were taken back in February this year. I’ve held myself from posting them, simply because I was waiting for the right moment and the right moment is now.

At the time my girlfriend and photographer had a chat with me about wanting to do an Alice in Wonderland inspired shoot. Sounded interesting of course and funny enough the concept really resonated with how I felt at that time in my life. I remember feeling content but wanting to do more. I remember having everything going for me but wanting to escape reality. Lucky for me, I was heading on holidays with the family shortly after these images were taken. It was this trip overseas that allowed me to re-evaluate my life and come back with a fresh perspective.

When I returned from the trip, my corporate job was up in the air and just as well it was because it was an opportunity for me to leave and pursue what I wanted and rather than escape reality, really live in the moment and be completely happy with the work I was doing. Since leaving my desk job in late May, everyday feels like a blessing. In these 2 or so months, I have managed to work full-time from home to get my online store Mode Madison up and running. I won’t lie, it has been long hours. I literally working day and night but at the same time, I do get to spend more time with my daughter, work with interesting people and utilise those creative skills that have been buried in a cave for years.

My store name was inspired by my love for fashion and my daughter Madison hence the name Mode Madison. Offering a collection of vintage and pre-loved items, the store is all about Style that Lasts. Coming from someone that didn’t shop for an entire year, I really do believe that you don’t have to be wearing brand new clothes to look hot and trendy.

Thank you so much for reading all,

Sovanny

Hello lovers

I have held these particular images quite close. Whilst snippets have appeared here and there, many of you who visit my blog have yet to see them. I’ve waited for Mode Madison to launch. And well this day has finally arrived.

This collaboration in particular is special as it was the first time I was able to style models for a shoot as opposed to styling myself. The beautiful Amrita pictured truly did this photoshoot justice with the help of our talented photographer, and Hair and Makeup artist.

Special thanks to this wonderful team for producing this gorgeous vintage glamour photoshoot.

HUSH – BEHIND THE SCENES

Hello everyone

Without giving away too much, I have been working with local photographers, makeup artists, models and retailers as the fashion stylist to bring forward a gorgeous vintage themed spring racing campaign.

Due to launch in late July I wanted to share with you a behind the scenes preview.

Set in a warehouse conversion, this photoshoot reminds me so much of Mad Men. What do you think?

Thanks for stopping by.

WINTER ESCAPADE – BEHIND THE SCENES

Hello lovers

I wanted to share with you a little behind the scenes work from my recent collaboration with a talented photographer and make-up artist.

Several weeks before this photoshoot, one of my gorgeous girlfriends had thoughtfully sent me a link with an advertisement on Gumtree for a stylist that had a can-do attitude. I know! An advert on Gumtree! That’s how the world works these days. You meet a pool of talented people through social media and online and sometimes you don’t even get to meet the people you are working with until the day. I have been blown away by the opportunities and support network since doing this full-time. Getting back to the advert, I’m as can-do as they come so I contacted Cynthia (the gorgeous makeup artist) to get talking. I floated the idea of vintage clothes and a story line of 2 best friends, quitting their jobs, then spending their day at the beach before heading on an trip overseas. She loved the concept and the email chain between myself, Cynthia and Taran (our photographer) started.

As the fashion stylist, there is so much background work and coordinating that is invested into a photoshoot. Indeed it can vary, however for this project it included creating a mood board, casting for models, arranging fittings, working with other fashion retailers, sourcing props, scouting locations to being their on the day to help make the models look their best and in turn act as a director to help ensure the photographs are amazing. Then there’s of course the post production work that I will write about another day.

The results that come from something I am so passionate about is amazing and it couldn’t have been done without a great, creative and hard working team. With showers forecasted for the day of our photoshoot, our gorgeous models Simone and Jordan braved it in summer clothing whilst everyone had their hands on deck, baring the cold weather with them to make this project successful.

Before I wrap this post up, I want to thank our the wardrobe contributors Martin Fella Vintage and White November Jewellery for working with my upcoming boutique Mode Madison to create an unbelievable vintage beach themed wardrobe for our models. Props are important too so a big thank you to Kara and Sandy for the Vintage luggage. Post production photos and information on where you can purchase these incredible pieces to follow.

Thank you for reading.

Sovanny xx

ANTICIPATION

How much do you want it? This is a question that I’m always asking myself.

Over the span of my career, the opportunities I’ve been fortunate to have are the ones that I’ve had to work really hard to get. The more I want it, the harder I’ll work for it. An attitude that I sincerly thank my parents for.

It should therefore be no surprise that I’ve made the dream of becoming a stylist,  blogger and vintage seller come to life.

In the lead up to the launch on my e-boutique,  Mode Madison, I’ve been working with talented artists to produce a portfolio of photographs. Some of which will form part of my new website which I can’t wait to show each and everyone of you.

So much planning, work and effort goes into the production behind fashion photography even on a small scale. It’s therefore only fair that you get to see some of the amazing results when a photographer,  stylist, hair and makeup artist and models collaborate. Introducing the first of our 2 models from our recent vintage glamour phoot at Werribee Mansion.

I hope that you love these as much as I do.

Sovanny xx

FAIRYTALE

Hello all

Late last week I revealed via Facebook that I’ll be launching my very own business. It’s a risk but one I am willing to take in order to finally pursue a profession in fashion and styling.

Prior to its launch, I’ve been quietly working behind the scenes to pull it all together. Needless to say, I love my new job and collaborating with other artists to make it all happen. The beauty about all of this is the opportunity to meet new people and promote local businesses and artist.

Set like a fairytale, here’s a behind the scenes preview of a collaboration that took place over the Queens Birthday holiday. Professional images and more details to follow.
