DARK ELEGANCE

Hello everyone

Last week hubby and I attended our dear friends wedding which was set at a winery in Red Hill, Victoria. Since most of my photographs are set in my backyard, we thought that after the ceremony we’d have the perfect opportunity to take advantage of a different backdrop for my blog.

I am so glad we did, because, aside from the gorgeous scenery, this blog now features a post of me in evening wear with a pair of knock out heels that have been in storage for I can’t even remember how long now. As elegant as I felt, there was some behind the scenes touch ups that needed to happen before any photos were taken. Like every other women in heels at the wedding, my feet were muddy, and my heels kept digging into the grass at the vineyards.  As a result I had disgusting feet and the tip of my heels were dressed with big balls of grass. So at the first opportunity I got, I went straight to my car and got out my baby wipes to clean my shoes and feet. My husband thought it was hilarious but I tell you what, even if you don’t have kids, go get yourself some baby wipes and leave them in your car or bag because you never know when you will need them. I distinctively remember giving a total stranger some baby wipes during my last overseas trip. I won’t go into the details but it was just as well I had some on me!

Now to this dress! This beautiful vintage number is beaded from top to bottom.  I love it so much and it kills me that I don’t get to wear it very often. It was purchase several years ago and since then it has become my go to wedding dress.  I have now worn it to three of the four weddings I have been to in the last three years and every time I wear it, it feels like the very first time.

What do you think of this number? I’d love to hear your comments.

Thanks for reading.

AN OUTFIT FOR CHAMPIONS

Hello all

I’m off on a course today and although it’s work related, all participants were encouraged to wear hoodies and comfortable clothing. It’s still extremely cold so the hooded attire worked a treat and this black trench coat that I pulled out of storage also came in handy. Feels good to be in casual form for work.

FOR EVERYDAY WEAR

Hello and happy Monday!

During my glorious shopping days, I loved purchasing all my work basics at Zara, Anthropologie and Banana Republic. Although Zara finally opened stores in Australia we’re still patiently waiting on the others. Just as well since I have banned myself from buying any new clothing this year but….I am really hoping for Anthropolie to be here some day.

Today’s outfit for work is a neat casual ensemble of overseas purchases. A blazer and bag from London, top and trousers from the States and shoes from Hong Kong. It doesn’t sound healthy for our Australian economy however we unfortunately aren’t as competitive on stock or price.

Next year, whilst I do plan to refresh my wardrobe, I’m thinking I could do more trift (I happen to live in area full of amazing vintage stores) shopping locally. That way I will be throwing money into our economy and still contributing to less consumerism. This plan sounds exciting already doesn’t it?

BACK TO REALITY

Hey there

Monday was my first day back at work after being on holidays for 2 weeks. Can you feel my joy?!

Just because I felt dull didn’t mean my outfit had to match that. Hence the nice pops of bright colours to spark up my day.

The feature of this outfit aside from my pumps are the cute bows on my jumper. It’s one of my more adorable looking pieces.

FUCHSIA

I am normally not one for colours. In fact, my wardrobe could be stripped right back to just black, white, grey and blue.  However, I felt that the working week needed to start off with a colour less dull than the weather of late.

Whilst I had selected a blue blazer the night before to wear over my outfit, I decided to ditch it for my neglected bright fuchsia coloured coat. The colour combination was perfect and I stood out like a highlighter at work.

I can’t help but feel proud when I make the effort to wear something I normally wouldn’t because it’s a step towards meeting my new year’s resolution.

HOODED

Hello lovely people and welcome to the weekend.

Starting on a personal note, this weekend marks 10 years with the love of my life, husband and father of my beloved daughter. We aren’t getting up to anything exciting. It’s just the usual errands and catching up on sleep and family time. Just normal people getting up to normal things.

As usual for the weekend I am all geared up in something comfortable. I have on a light weight parka which is perfect for our unpredictable Melbourne weather. It’s just after midday and we have had both rain and shine!

What I love most about this parka is that it’s oversized and made with flowing fabric. This allows me to drape the parka over as many layers as I need without feeling bulky. Also if it does start to rain again I can just pull the hood over my head.

Thanks for coming by and I hope you enjoy the weekend.

CLASHING PATTERNS

My last day of the working week! If you can’t already tell by the pictures. I am absolutely exhausted. Todays outfit is an attempt to pull off an outfit with some clashing patterns. I am sure I can do better with the items in my wardrobe, however it’s a start.
