As I write this post I think about how the end of year is fast approaching. I am excited about the new possibilities for this blog in the new year. At the same time I feel as though I will need to commit to a new direction to keep my blog going. It’s mostly been about keeping track of my new years resolution through fashion so what next?!
For now however, I hope you continue to enjoy the outfits I pull together and my ability to not shop for any clothes for one more month! I do provide updates on a daily basis via my Instagram account so feel free to be bombed with photographs and follow any time.
The outfit for this post is a combination of denim on denim with tartan and some statement jewellery. I understand this look is in at the moment so thought I’d give it a Trendy Momma go! Thing is apart from my necklace I have had these items for years now. I’ve just never worn it like this before. Admittedly since I do lean more towards casual dress I love this trend and secretly wish for tartan to stay.
Excuse my fat fingers but I wanted so show you my cool bling
I’m wearing: Dress by Yessica | Denim biker jacket by Bardot | Tartan shirt by Topshop | Boots by Spurr | Statement necklace by Lovisa | Bag by Burberry
Demin, hi-tops, maxi dress and an oversized bag. Dressed up for the perfect Winter getaway with my family. Let the fun begin!
The outfit (All items are old)
Black tank dress by Metalicus | Black stripe midi dress by Monki | Zebra patterned maxi dress by H&M | Hi top wedges by Topshop | Denim biker jacket by Bardot | Diaper bag by Tim & Leslie
When you haven’t hit the shops to purchase any new clothes in the last 6 months you start to blend in your summer and winter wardrobe. So if this outfit looks a little confused to you that’s the only excuse I have to offer aside from the fact that I love to experiment with the clothes I own.
Today’s outfit combination just works for me. Not because of the way it makes me look but more because of the way it makes me feel. The satisfaction of making the most of all my clothes and not caring about the weather or if the look I bring forward is in fashion or not.
Outfit breakdown (All items are old)
Floral maxi dress| Black biker jacker| Black lace up booties| Vintage 70’s handbag
I wore this outfit on Sunday so this post is a little delayed. I had to post about it though because there’s a little story behind these trousers.
For those that have been following me for quite some time now, you will all be aware that I committed to not purchase any new clothing for the entire 2013. As crazy as this commitment sounds I have no new clothes and everything I have blogged about to date is old- this years effort to contribute to less cosumerism and still remain as stylish as possible.
These trousers are one of three that I purchased from Banana Republic back in 2010. They were straight legged trousers with slightly flarred bottoms. I no longer liked the cut of these trousers but I didn’t want them to go to waste either. Also since petite trousers with just the perfect length for me are so darn hard to come by and new trousers aren’t an option I took them to the tailors. I had the all trousers modified requesting to have them cut in narrow down the legs. They turned out beautifully.
Things have certainly changed since I never do this. My old self would have donated these trousers or simply left them in a dark place never to be worn again. So there you go. A little something to think about for all those items you own that may never be worn again.
I know this story may not seem significant but it is! No new clothes for a year is a huge commitment for someone who’s a clothes lover to make.
