CLASH OF THE FLOWERS

Hello everyone

My friends often wonder how on earth I manage to get dressed, put my face on, sort my daughter out and take photographs for my blog before heading to work each day. While I’m pleased that we make it look effortless, it basically takes practice, effort, planning and a partner that helps out to make sure we are out the door quickly and in the office by 8am. Mind you, most days we get up at 7am and that’s a sleep in.

Any parent will tell you that some mornings are more tougher than others but,  I can honestly say that there isn’t one morning since my daughter has been born that I haven’t woken up with a smile on my face. Parenting and being a mum is soo bad yet so good at the same time and I wouldn’t have it any other way. My little one has made me a better person…a more appreciative person and someone that is more considerate and less selfish. Now I get to see life through her innocent eyes and have also re-discovered the child in me through our play dates. It’s absolutely amazing and I feel so lucky to have a beautiful girl and a husband that not only loves me to bits but helps me to get my shit together every single day.

Believe it or not, my lack of time in the mornings is a contributing factor to my creative sense of style or lack of. Unless I plan what I am going to wear the next day the night before, like this morning, I quickly put one together and what generally matters most is my choice of bag and shoes. When I’m rushed, all I know is that I want my outfit combination to be different to what I’ve worn previously. That is my thought process and it helps me with making a decision on what to wear in record time.

So guys, never mind my handbag…what do you think about todays clashing florals and my lime green pumps?

DON’T WE ALL LOVE TO SHOP ONLINE?!

Hello beautiful and welcome to the always anticipated weekend.

image

Several months ago I noticed a Saks on 5th Avenue online sale. I know! Believe me, I did have the idea of unsubcribing to all my favourite shopping sites but never did so as it turns out, temptation hit. I’d added a whole heap of items for my little girl to the basket and then somehow ended up looking at things for myself….as you do! Don’t worry, no new clothes…only a new pair of B by Brian Atwood flats. Just as well my commitment doesn’t extend to shoes and accessories.

I have had these pair in the box for months now and today my feet decided it was time to christen them.

Given it’s the weekend, I am my comfortable self in jeans and an oversized boyfriend t-shirt. For something different, I decided to crop my top by tucking it into the side if my bra and then slipped over my favourite parka for that extra wind shield.

PATTERN UP

Hello everyone

Welcome to the weekend!

The weather has been crazy windy in Melbourne. So during the week I have made sure to avoid wearing skirts and dresses that could potentially blow up and expose my knickers. Sounds insane but imagine this….I work at a University and one lunch time as I’m walking across the grounds to grab a bite to eat the Marilyn Munroe scene happens- to me. Feeling mortified and embarrassed about the bunch of students that saw what they did I knew never to wear a dress on a windy day again.

On Thursday I wore this particular outfit to work. This feminine style incorporates a mix of tasteful clashing patterns and pop of red to brighten up the colour palette.

Take note of the wind proof pencil skirt. The skirt is also elasticated making it very comfortable and versatile enough to wear during and post pregnancy. Since becoming a mum I’ve grown to appreciate all my elasticated trousers and skirts. Even if you don’t have kids I’m certain you can see the value in elasticated items.

The velvet patterned jacket featured is a purchase from Las Vegas back in 2010. I have worn it several times this year however this happens to be the first opportunity I have had to blog it. The jacket is tailored around the waist and has a peplum bottom perfect to give a bit of shape to the outfit.

As for my green and white floral top, this happens to be from my absolute favourite store-Anthropologie. It’s my go to, everyday wear top. Aside from the fact that its quite pretty the top is another item that I had worn all throughout my pregnancy. It isn’t maternity wear but like Seed Heritage, Anthropologies is stocked up with a variety loose fitting items. Unfortunately Anthropologie is not available in Australia but they do ship internationally if you are interested.

ONE FAUX FUR GILET, FOUR WAYS

Hello everyone

I hope that you have all been well this week. Here in Melbourne it’s fabulous since there’s a slight hint of Spring in the air. Although this now means I’ll soon be packing away those Winter warmers and making more room in my tiny closet (that I share with my husband) for my spring and summer gear. I love this thought but wish I had a massive wardrobe so that I wouldn’t have to pack at all….right?!?!

As featured in this post, I’ve absolutely adored my red faux fur gilet which I’d been so lucky to get a hold of during an asos sale last year. It’s been so good to me and I’ve loved how it’s versatile enough to dress up and down. Before I pack it away for next year I wanted to do another 1 item 4 ways challenge (as seen here, here and here) featuring this gilet. So here it is.

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed this post.

MORE SLEEP PLEASE

Hello hello

I kept my outfit extremely casual for work today. Mostly because I decided that this morning it was more important to sleep in a little and less important to get dressed up for work. Most nights I do a bit of prep by selecting my work clothes the night before. However since I returned back from holidays a few weeks ago, I just can seem to get my shit together. From my clothes, to my workouts to my eating habits- It’s all off and not in a good way. “Is this normal?” I ask myself and no it isn’t. Something is wrong with me because I have been feeling extremely tired and unmotivated lately. See I’m normal after all.

Cheers to wrapping up this freaking week because it feels like hell and back to the normal me next week.

A LITTLE VINTAGE

Hello gorgeous

I hope that you have had an amazing weekend. For me, it’s certainly nice to have a break from work and more time with my little family.

This beautiful photo set was taken by my husband before I set out for a massive high tea eating fest with my girlfriends at the Conservatory, Crown. It’s absolutely freezing in Melbourne and indeed a coat is needed but I figured that I was going to be indoors anyway so didn’t bother with it.

High tea calls for a lady like outfit and since I don’t get dressed as often as I use to, I wanted to put together an outfit that I had never worn before. The result was a dreamy vintage look.
