FLORAL OVER FLORAL

imageimage20130914-214218.jpgimage20130914-214449.jpg

Hello hello

I have been very active on the blog of late. For me I find it quite therapeutic to sit down after dinner and write a blog post about what I wore on the day so I hope you enjoy reading them.

You may have seen this very dress on my black and white challenge in March this year. Today I’ve decided to layer it with a floral cardigan and a cute pair of ballet flats. Despite my hairstyle this outfit made me feel very lady like.

Have a wonderful Friday and thanks for reading my post. Xx

FATHERS DAY STYLIN’

imageimageimageimageimageimageimageimage

Hello lovelies

It’s finally Spring baby and we’re kicking this glorious season off with a fathers day celebration.

Although we’ve kept it a low key event at home, I didn’t want to pass up on the opportunity to get a little dressed up. Most weekends I tend to look very casual and today wasn’t too different except I decided to pretty up my casual t-shirt slash hi-tops look by adding in a lovely pleated maxi skirt. As a result, a sporty and feminine look was born.

All these clothing items are old. However, if I do inspire you to create a similar look then I’m pleased to say that maxi skirts, t-shirts and hi-tops are readily available to purchase in most commercial fashion stores.

Happy fathers day to all the beautiful men and thanks for coming by. Xx

THE SUNNY SIDE

Hello lovelies

It feels great to be on the warmer side of Winter here in Melbourne. I can now expose some skin without feeling the chill. Awesome!

Some key items I have on today are my black short sleeve blouse and blue lace jacket. Both from Alannah Hill and both years old yet timeless and so very cute. I’ve teamed it with a floral cardigan, red skirt and lime patent pumps for that pop of colour from head to toe.

Hope you love this look and that it’s inspired you experiment with the colours in your wardrobe.

Depending on where you are in the world have a great day/night.
Thanks for reading. Much love xx

PATTERN UP

Hello everyone

Welcome to the weekend!

The weather has been crazy windy in Melbourne. So during the week I have made sure to avoid wearing skirts and dresses that could potentially blow up and expose my knickers. Sounds insane but imagine this….I work at a University and one lunch time as I’m walking across the grounds to grab a bite to eat the Marilyn Munroe scene happens- to me. Feeling mortified and embarrassed about the bunch of students that saw what they did I knew never to wear a dress on a windy day again.

On Thursday I wore this particular outfit to work. This feminine style incorporates a mix of tasteful clashing patterns and pop of red to brighten up the colour palette.

Take note of the wind proof pencil skirt. The skirt is also elasticated making it very comfortable and versatile enough to wear during and post pregnancy. Since becoming a mum I’ve grown to appreciate all my elasticated trousers and skirts. Even if you don’t have kids I’m certain you can see the value in elasticated items.

The velvet patterned jacket featured is a purchase from Las Vegas back in 2010. I have worn it several times this year however this happens to be the first opportunity I have had to blog it. The jacket is tailored around the waist and has a peplum bottom perfect to give a bit of shape to the outfit.

As for my green and white floral top, this happens to be from my absolute favourite store-Anthropologie. It’s my go to, everyday wear top. Aside from the fact that its quite pretty the top is another item that I had worn all throughout my pregnancy. It isn’t maternity wear but like Seed Heritage, Anthropologies is stocked up with a variety loose fitting items. Unfortunately Anthropologie is not available in Australia but they do ship internationally if you are interested.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and thanks so much for reading.

AN EVOLUTION

Hi everyone

My hairstyle has received so much attention in these last few months. It therefore only seemed fair to feature in an exclusive blog post. And after today’s trip to the hairdresser, I thought you would all appreciate a profile of all my sides.

In just under 7 months my hairstyle has gone from asymmetrical pixie to a side shave pixie and now shaving off both sides and the back. Whats in common with all these hairstyles? It’s extremely low maintenance.  When it comes to styling, I wet it, comb it down and voila! As a busy mum that’s really something to love.

If you were to look back at all my hairstyles in the last several decades you’d see quite the hair evolution.  The changes don’t come from the fact that I’m brave or don’t hair too much for my hair. Quite the opposite in fact. My hairstyles form part of my creative outlet and the confidence comes from knowing that my hair will grow back.

Although I’ve been mistaken for a man amongst other stereotypes, I love short hair and the fact that it doesn’t make me your average looking girl.

I hope you love this cut as much as I do.
