LONDON WITH THE FAMILY

Hello

My family and I have just returned from Europe which is why I have been missing in action. Now that we are back, I’m excited to share some our experiences and photographs with you. Our first pit stop was London. Although London has a reputation for being gloomy and unfriendly, personally I find the city absolutely lovely, full of rich history and beautiful monuments to explore. Once more, you don’t have to look for anything specific to appreciate your surroundings.

Although I have been to London several times during my travels, this was my first time as a family with a toddler in tow. Kids are unpredictable creature so as parents, my husband and I weren’t quite sure what to expect. We just knew that travelling in general has its challenges so we put on our game face and suck it up attitude. What DID happen was jet-lag. This meant being awake at 3am, my toddler going stir crazy in the flat by 6am and leaving to head out by 7am or hell would break loose. Yep. Mind you, most days we are still all fast asleep at 7am. When we were out and about however, my little daughter was on a roll. A little explorer in a whole new world full of adventures. Sure all of our routines were out of whack but since we were on holidays, who cares!

During our very short stay, we shopped, ate, walked along the river, jumped around in puddles and had high-tea at the Sanderson Hotel. It was bliss in amongst all the family madness and we had the blast.

More details to come on Paris and Barcelona. In the meantime, thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy the images.

HATS

Hello

It happens to be racing season here in Melbourne. Quite the beautiful sight when you see all the ladies and gents dressed up for one of the most looked forward too events of the year.

SInce I hadn’t headed to the races in a couple of years, I wanted to still get in on the dressing up so thats what the family and I did. On went the dresses and out came the wide brim hats on Derby day. We pranced around the yard in our gear, had a picnic and little play. Its so much fun and this time, I didn’t have to deal with the over crowded grounds and drunken people.

Do you love the races and fashion that comes with it? If so, don’t let kids come in between having a little fun….just have fun with them.

Thanks for reading all and have a great weekend.

THE GOOD LIFE

Hello gorgeous

Since I have committed to not purchasing any new clothing this year, I packed a little heavier than usual for my trip to Hawaii.

That said my luggage was full of comfortable items that I knew I would have to wear over and over again during this trip. So if you notice some clothes overlapping in my next few posts it’s just me being creative with what was in my luggage.

On this very day, my friend and I headed to the Waikele Premium outlet for some bargain shopping. I have to say I found it to be quite underwhelming but managed to score some cute items for my little girl. The Godiva shop there is just devine and I couldn’t help but indulge in a cone full of strawberries dipped in dark chocolate. Certainly a must go to place for all travellers.

Post shopping we grabbed a bite and drink, then spent the late afternoon relaxing on Waikiki beach. If this could be a part of my life everyday I would be completely satisfied.

Hello gorgeous

I have recently come home from a whole seven days in paradise without my little family!

Agreed that taking a holiday with your friend instead of your family is not everyones idea of a relaxing holiday but it was a simple decision that my husband and I agreed on months before I returned to work earlier this year. That is, I would take time off while hubby looked after our little angel and vice versa. We both felt that it would be healthy for all of us. Trust me, I know how extremely fortunate and lucky I am to have this just work for us. As my friend mentioned on the trip – your husband is one in a million.

On the trip, we spent most of our time in Waikiki and both had so much fun finding it to be one of the best trips. During the day it would be a little time to relax then go, go, go and in the evening before dinner, I would Skype home to check in, say hi and good night to my little one.

There was so much to love about Oahu. The kind people, strong cocktails, warm weather, gorgeous beaches, blue water, green flora and never ending amount palm/coconut trees in full view. To my surprise, I found Waikiki to to be unbelievably family friendly with late sunsets, space for prams, kid friendly menus and loads of water activities to keep the little ones occupied.

Independence day happened to be our final day in Hawaii and my friend and I decided to do not much except hang around with the locals and lay under palm trees at Ala Moana Beach Park. The day ended with a fireworks spectacular which was amazing. It was the most wonderful way to top of our trip. We didn’t however look forward to our 3.45am wake up call for the flight home the next day.

Until next time.. and next time, the whole family will be going.

LACE ON LACE

Week 4, February 1 item, 4 ways challenge – All abou the little lace shirt
Day 56 of no shopping – lace on lace

It is Monday, so I thought I could wear an outfit that is a combination fun, girly and cute to lift my ‘the weekend isn’t long enough’ mood. I have played it safe today with the colours and shades allowing the gorgeous lace pattern on my knit dress run the show. The cute skinny belt over my outfit was also a must to give me some shape.

It is hot out today, but just in case the air-con at work gets out of control I brought along with me the cutest blue lace jacket to throw over the top. The highlight however is my adorable 1950’s vintage purse handbag which I picked up at a local vintage store.

Outfit break-down
Sleeveless black and cream knit dress
Short sleeve black lace shirt
¾ length lace blue jacket
Maroon patent pumps
1950’s vintage purse handbag (purchased here)
