METALLIC SPARKLE

Hello hello

It’s been 316 days since I have updated my wardrobe with any new piece of clothing. I am amazed with myself because the me last year didn’t know how to keep her wallet closed.

This year has been about creating my own sense of style with a wardrobe full of old clothes. What I’ve called my contribution in minimising the environmental impact on my part. With this experience I’ve descovered items I have never worn or seen in a while. Then suddenly it feels like you have won something when you get a hand me down like the dress I’m wearing, because sometimes you do just want something else to wear.

Although this outfit is quite simple, the beauty is in the details. From the metallic pattern in the dress to the leather look collar and lapel in the blazer. Whilst this combination makes for a great Autumn look, I'm rocking this outfit in Spring because it's not that warm. The beauty of not conforming to what's on trend.

APPRECIATION

Love2 Love6 Love4 Love3

Hi all

My commitment to not by any new clothes for this entire year, at the time seemed like the hardest thing I’d ever do. For months I remember stalking shopping websites and shop fronts yearning for clothes that I knew I was never going to own.  It was difficult but temptations never got the better of me and whilst I still love to browse online, the once addicted and impulsive shopper no longer exists.

The birth of my daughter in early 2012 may have had something to do with the rationale behind my crazy new years resolution. Although for the most part, my commitment  was driven by my needs rather than wants. The need to re-prioritise my expenditure, the need to be less of a consumerist, the need to minimise my carbon footprint , the need to be more creative, the need to be more of a responsible mother and the need to appreciate what I already have instead of my desires.

Ten months into this year, my closest friends and awesome followers often wonder how I do it. If I have inspired you at all to think twice about actively shopping, my tip would be to have a conservative and achievable approach. For instance I committed to no new clothes so this in fact did not extend to shoes and accessories.  That said, I didn’t exactly splurge either. Surprisingly, my shopping appetite seemed to curb at all levels. I haven’t even used the Zara voucher my friends gave me in May this year. Aside from that, my wardrobe was extensive enough to give me a variety of options and luckily enough my pre-pregnancy clothes still fit my post baby body.

All in all, like the outfit for this post, I am proud about the outfits I have created, the clothes I managed to finally wear and my ability to show you that you can still look and feel good without the need to update your wardrobe. Whilst I am counting down the days so I can freely shop again, I do believe that this commitment has changed me as a person. I will never be that impulsive shopper and heavy consumerist I once was.

As always thank you for reading and following my journey.

OVERSIZED

Large1Large6 Large3 Large2 Large4

Hey everyone

I find my wardrobe that little more satisfying knowing that I could get away with wearing my husbands clothes.  His clothes are small yet large enough on me to give that comfort I always search for on the weekends. His Ralph Lauren jumper is just one of his many clothes that I knick. It’s too bad his shoes don’t fit me or I would knick them also. Do note that since it’s a common jumper, I often bump into a guy that is wearing exact same jumper when we are out and about. It’s much more awkward for them than it is for me.

What do you think? Do you like your clothing large too?

Hope everyone is enjoying the week thus far!

I put this look together knowing that I needed to be presentable and comfortable since I was going to be at work and on my feet all day. As you can see, the combination of trousers, blazer, flats and short hair can create quite the cool preppy and androgynous looking girl. I’ve have experimented with a mix of colours but aside from that, my outfit is quite basic with nice blend of simple details.

CLASH OF THE FLOWERS

Hello everyone

My friends often wonder how on earth I manage to get dressed, put my face on, sort my daughter out and take photographs for my blog before heading to work each day. While I’m pleased that we make it look effortless, it basically takes practice, effort, planning and a partner that helps out to make sure we are out the door quickly and in the office by 8am. Mind you, most days we get up at 7am and that’s a sleep in.

Any parent will tell you that some mornings are more tougher than others but,  I can honestly say that there isn’t one morning since my daughter has been born that I haven’t woken up with a smile on my face. Parenting and being a mum is soo bad yet so good at the same time and I wouldn’t have it any other way. My little one has made me a better person…a more appreciative person and someone that is more considerate and less selfish. Now I get to see life through her innocent eyes and have also re-discovered the child in me through our play dates. It’s absolutely amazing and I feel so lucky to have a beautiful girl and a husband that not only loves me to bits but helps me to get my shit together every single day.

Believe it or not, my lack of time in the mornings is a contributing factor to my creative sense of style or lack of. Unless I plan what I am going to wear the next day the night before, like this morning, I quickly put one together and what generally matters most is my choice of bag and shoes. When I’m rushed, all I know is that I want my outfit combination to be different to what I’ve worn previously. That is my thought process and it helps me with making a decision on what to wear in record time.

So guys, never mind my handbag…what do you think about todays clashing florals and my lime green pumps?

Hello lovelies and happidy humpidy day

I hope everyone is enjoying the week thus far. Over here in Melbourne it’s gone from sunshine to stormy weather. I keep up with the weather by wearing my Summer clothes during Winter and vice versa. What’s that called? transition fashion? adapting? or simply confused?.

We took these photographs over the weekend just passed. I remember feeling fresh and manicured that day after my trip to the hairdressers. Frequent trips to the hairdressers seems to be the story of my life at the moment and I’m a little sick of it. I will see how long I last but, my aim will be to avoid the hairdressers for as long as I can and grow the shit out of my hair. Sorry to those that love this hairstyle. I will miss it too.

As per most weekends, I am in my natural casual style since I spend most of my time catching up on life. I did however bring my outfit up a notch by throwing in my leopard print booties and a red clutch to break up that black and white.

I know it’s taken a while for me to post these photographs however, that same day I made a commitment to spend less time blogging and more time with my family. My little darling is growing up so fast and I’ve realised that blogging is just eating so much into my precious family time. So as a heads up, you will be hearing less of me, but you can always keep up with my Instagram if you have yet to go there.

Thanks for reading my post. xx
