Last Saturday these photographs were taken before I headed for a girls night out. When we were younger a girls night out would have involved clubs, lots of alcohol and bedtime in the early morning but now we opt for a chick flick followed by dinner. We aren’t old…we just prefer to devote our energy to other things in life now.

While baggy clothes and sneakers are generally the make up of my weekend style, it was easy to see that my look is unique within my close friendship circle. For instance they’d never wear hi-tops and a boilersuit let alone have a side shave hairstyle. I on the other hand could never rock a mini body con dress, get away make-up free or have waist length luscious locks to show for.
Occasionally, an old photo of us comes out and we laugh at how daggy we once were even though it seemed so trendy at the time or more recently notice how much we have aged. As we have aged, our looks have matured and so have we. We are all so much more confident and comfortable in our own skin and what we wear. I love that we are all so different and if we were all to exhange wardrobes for a day I’d be certain that our outfits would still reflect our personal sense of style.
A vintage fashion themed photograph of my girlfriends and I taken back in July 2009. One of our more tasteful looks.
Do you notice the style variety within you close friendship circle? I want to hear about it.
As always thanks for reading and I hope you love these photographs that I hold dear to me. Now lets all enjoy the freaking weekend.
p.s Only 45 days of my New Years Resolution left. Let the countdown begin baby.
I started blogging when my daughter was a mere 10 months old. She wasn’t so mobile at that stage so taking photographs without the constant photo bombing just never happened until recently. My little one now loves to step in front of the camera and say ‘cheeese’. At first, I found it a distraction but now, I love it and as you can see we get the opportunity to take some fabulous yet candid mother and daughter snaps.

Mummy can’t have all the fun right?
I think these photographs are so wonderful (biased of course), that I may feature her more often on my blog going forward. What do you think?
My outfit, was all for the Master Chef High Tea experience at Crown Entertainment Centre yesterday. The sun was shining so it only felt appropriate to be wearing something with so much colour. I was also quite excited about giving this skirt a whirl for the first time. It was an impulse buy about 3 years ago and after I bought it, I fell pregnant so there you go. Excuses aside, buying clothes but not necessarily wearing them was an old habit of mine and thank goodness I have kicked it to the curb by committing to my new years resolution.
My blog does feature quite a few maxi skirt meets hi-tops looks as seen here and here. The sneakers are mostly for comfort and height (so perfect, it avoids having my skirt dragged along the floor) but I also love that it screams feminine meets street style when paired with a skirt.

It’s finally Spring baby and we’re kicking this glorious season off with a fathers day celebration.
Although we’ve kept it a low key event at home, I didn’t want to pass up on the opportunity to get a little dressed up. Most weekends I tend to look very casual and today wasn’t too different except I decided to pretty up my casual t-shirt slash hi-tops look by adding in a lovely pleated maxi skirt. As a result, a sporty and feminine look was born.
All these clothing items are old. However, if I do inspire you to create a similar look then I’m pleased to say that maxi skirts, t-shirts and hi-tops are readily available to purchase in most commercial fashion stores.

I wore this outfit on Sunday so this post is a little delayed. I had to post about it though because there’s a little story behind these trousers.
For those that have been following me for quite some time now, you will all be aware that I committed to not purchase any new clothing for the entire 2013. As crazy as this commitment sounds I have no new clothes and everything I have blogged about to date is old- this years effort to contribute to less cosumerism and still remain as stylish as possible.
These trousers are one of three that I purchased from Banana Republic back in 2010. They were straight legged trousers with slightly flarred bottoms. I no longer liked the cut of these trousers but I didn’t want them to go to waste either. Also since petite trousers with just the perfect length for me are so darn hard to come by and new trousers aren’t an option I took them to the tailors. I had the all trousers modified requesting to have them cut in narrow down the legs. They turned out beautifully.
Things have certainly changed since I never do this. My old self would have donated these trousers or simply left them in a dark place never to be worn again. So there you go. A little something to think about for all those items you own that may never be worn again.
I know this story may not seem significant but it is! No new clothes for a year is a huge commitment for someone who’s a clothes lover to make.
Starting on a personal note, this weekend marks 10 years with the love of my life, husband and father of my beloved daughter. We aren’t getting up to anything exciting. It’s just the usual errands and catching up on sleep and family time. Just normal people getting up to normal things.
As usual for the weekend I am all geared up in something comfortable. I have on a light weight parka which is perfect for our unpredictable Melbourne weather. It’s just after midday and we have had both rain and shine!
What I love most about this parka is that it’s oversized and made with flowing fabric. This allows me to drape the parka over as many layers as I need without feeling bulky. Also if it does start to rain again I can just pull the hood over my head.
Thanks for coming by and I hope you enjoy the weekend.
If you are reading my blog for the first time, I am proud to make mention that I haven’t purchased a single item of clothing for Moi since 1 January this year. Everything I’ve worn this year thus far are items I already own. There are clothes I have had for years and some that I purchased and just never bothered to touch. Now each day I become more fond of what I have and less of a need to indulge in compulsive consumerism. I am completely amazed at how I have managed to kick such an addictive habit.
So what’s new on the blog?! My hair! Truth be told, I made an attempt last week to do it myself and it didn’t turn out so well. So I have waited a week for it to grow out and slipped in to the hair salon today to get it done properly. When I arrived home and showed my husband, he got the shock of his life and then figured he would eventually get used to it.
In terms of styling, this hairstyle does come with a price. The cut is edgy and not so feminine therefore the clothes I have chosen to wear today are fine however, I am unsure how I would look in pretty floral dress or my work wear for instance. Speaking of work wear, fingers crossed my colleagues do not find this cut too inappropriate for the work place.
In the coming weeks, days and months, I am looking forward to all the new looks I can bring with this new hairstyle. Its the new me and I hope you will enjoy what’s to come.
Thanks for reading and hope you all have an ah-mazing weekend.
