mommas style

Hey lovers

Vintage and thrift finds is an extremely economical way to shop. The best part about shopping this way is that you are more like to score yourself one off stylish pieces that won’t hurt your bank account. Of course not all of us want to look like we’ve stepped back in time but here’s the thing…you don’t have to.

What I love doing is mixing vintage and modern pieces to create a look that’s unique, yet won’t have heads turning for all the wrong reasons. It can be hard to do this right so if you’re starting out, my suggestion is to keep the colour palette basic and add in a few simple accessories. Of course if you’re game, do add in extra colours and textures to your outfit and go bold on the hair and makeup.

Since it’s our summer, I’ve gone for simple feminine colours and created this look with a mix of modern clothes and vintage accessories. It’s comfortable, casual and does not scream over the top.

Love the look?

Thanks for dropping in x

Hello lovers

In our very gritty neighbourhood, these snaps were taken before we headed out to the rustic Collingwood Childrens Farm. I’ve said it before and I will say it again, it’s not easy taking photographs of the kids hence the kit kat in her little hands. Unnoticeable in the midsts of that red rah rah spotty skirt don’t you think!

It was warmer than usual today so no coat required. Rather, I opted to throw over an oversized vintage vest over my babe. As for me, I’m desperately trying to grow my disgusting hair out so decided to accessorise my outfit with this bling a ching beanie recently scored from Asos. Nothing I’m wearing today is maternity wear and I’ve only managed to fit into my pants thanks to belt extenders I purchased a while back.

Hope you love these photos and thanks for dropping by the blog.

Hey lovers

I love this red vintage suit and when my girl Vinniece generously sent me this leopard print top, I knew it would be a match made.Lucky for me and I say lucky because I was about 3months along, everything fit perfectly. Just.

Accessorised with a birdcage veil to complete the look, I felt ready to paint the town red.

Hope you love the look.

Hello lovers

Firstly, I wanted to thank everyone who sent me a note to congratulate us on the expansion of our family.  Another baby during this time in my life wasn’t exactly planned.  It came at the time when I was experiencing a re-structure at work and all the while, I also had plans to pursue other dreams which are now slowly becoming a reality. It just goes to show that life is full of surprises and hurdles and with the support of loved ones, there really isn’t much I can’t face as long as I have them by my side.

With this pregnancy, my blog now also gets that little bit more interesting. Since it’s conception, I have been the face and model for this blog. Now while I’ll still make an appearance, what you will begin to see are a portfolio of photographs from recent collaborations featuring a range of other artists. Coming on the scene is also my personal bumptastic edition and some more  mother and daughter shots which lets face it are my absolute favourite.

Here are a set of photographs captured today featuring my little girl at Coburg Lake Park. At almost 15weeks pregnant, I look like how I did at 20weeks in my first pregnancy. Muscle memory is certainly not a myth.

Hope you love these and thanks so much for reading.

Hi all

If you’ve missed it, I’m collaborating with Littleboogaweezin, a label that offers fashion staples for modern mamas and kids. With my favourite piece from their current collection, I’ll be styling it in 6 different ways with a new look to debut every month.

Late last month you saw look #1 and in the next few weeks, there will be the launch of my second look which I’m really excited about.

I also have fellow six ways girls Gaelyn and Jess. So head over to their blog to see how they have styled their favourite pieces and show them some love.

Thanks for reading.

Hello beautiful

I know it has been sometime since I’ve hit the blogging scene. If you’ve missed me you can certainly keep updated on my whereabouts by following me on instagram @mode_madison.

So what’s been happening? A few short weeks ago, I made a tough decision to take a risk and leave the company I had been working at for a little over 2 years now. I felt sad and unsure about my decision however, my closest friends, colleagues and even I will give me a pat on the back for doing what I did. It was an opportunity to start doing something I really love whilst this blogging journey continues.  An opportunity to look after my health while spending more time with loved ones and a rare opportunity to reflect on life as I know it.

I am truly thankful and feel so blessed to start a new beginning. On that note, here’s what I wore on my last working day.

Thanks for stopping by and I’ll be sure to keep you all updated on what comes next.
