HELLO

Red

Hello all and welcome to the weekend.

Although I have been blogging for several months now, this happens to be my first WordPress post. Previously I had been using the Tumblr platform and whilst I loved blogging on Tumblr, WordPress is certainly the more appropriate choice for my written and photography content.

Since the WordPress platform is easily customised, I have managed to categorise all my content from fashion to food to all things mummy and baby related. Obviously, this is great for my audience and followers. As you can appreciated, some of my followers want to know how I am tracking along with my new years resolution while others are more interested in food ideas for the bub. So rather than having to go through my 100+ blog posts,  this new site allows me to segment all my content so I hope you love it.

Moving along, for those that are new to my blog, the inspiration to start my blog comes from my 2013 new years resolution – not to purchase any new clothing for the entire year and make the most of my existing items. Just to clarify, shoes and accessories are not included. I have a long list of my I committed to this so if you are ever interested in why…all you have to do is ask me and I can explain myself. So almost 9 months into the year, I have committed to this somewhat insane idea and I am so proud of myself. Believe me for any shopaholic this is an accomplishment. In fact, I’m so committed to this resolution that I haven’t even spent the Zara voucher that my bestfriends gave me for my birthday earlier in the year because it feels like I’m cheating. For those that are inspired by my commitment, I won’t lie, it’s been a struggle. These days, some reason, every time I walk past a shop front, there is always the most amazing displays of merchandise. Do I have sucked in written all over my face?! Yes I do. But as they say you always want what I can’t have and that’s how I feel just about every day. It’s getting better…easier and aside from the fact that I have been able to control my impulses, I have now also discovered my unique sense of style and ability to use some creativity for my outfits that I never thought I had. As one of my followers describes – my style is like fashion schizophrenia – you just never know how I’m going to look the next day. For the most part, what I wear depends how I feel, how much time I have and the dreadful four season a day Melbourne weather.

I wore this outfit earlier in the week and it really brought out the compliments in people. A sweet and ego building surprise. For me, it’s an average outfit, but for my casually dressed workplace it’s very well overdressed and not quite the look you see everyday on University grounds. Aside from the clothes, what I love most about this outfit is the handbag. I am a real sucker for the good old handbag. You will notice that I don’t tend to wear small ones either because of all the things I have to carry but that morning I thought, if I don’t wear it…why did I buy it. Besides it’s such a shame to have such a gorgeous DVF bag just sit there. What’s embarrassing and shameful was I still had the tag on it. Yep!. Just a good example of why its important to set shopping aside and have a good hard look at what you already own.

Thanks for reading my very first WP post. I hope you love it. Comments and likes are all appreciated and loved.

Also if you like what I’m about and decide to follow me, I will make sure to follow you right back.

DON’T WE ALL LOVE TO SHOP ONLINE?!

Hello beautiful and welcome to the always anticipated weekend.

Several months ago I noticed a Saks on 5th Avenue online sale. I know! Believe me, I did have the idea of unsubcribing to all my favourite shopping sites but never did so as it turns out, temptation hit. I’d added a whole heap of items for my little girl to the basket and then somehow ended up looking at things for myself….as you do! Don’t worry, no new clothes…only a new pair of B by Brian Atwood flats. Just as well my commitment doesn’t extend to shoes and accessories.

I have had these pair in the box for months now and today my feet decided it was time to christen them.

Given it’s the weekend, I am my comfortable self in jeans and an oversized boyfriend t-shirt. For something different, I decided to crop my top by tucking it into the side if my bra and then slipped over my favourite parka for that extra wind shield.

IN THE MOOD

.imageimageimageimageimage

Hey hey it’s hump day!

The weather is so good over here in Melbourne and good weather comes with good moods and less clothing.

Aside from the wonderful weather, I have loved plucking out a whole lot of items out of my wardrobe that I haven’t worn for a very long time. There’s that same excitement of having a new item to wear.

On the blog today let’s give a warm welcome to this pretty little dress and cute bow bag from circa long time ago.

Thanks for reading everyone and I can’t wait to show you all the other ways I plan to wear these items.

DENIM NEVER DIES

Happy Tuesday everyone!

This week I’m sticking with the theme of wearing my oldest clothes. Yesterday is was my plaid dress from Cue and today it’s my decade old denim biker jacket from Bardot.

There was once upon a time where I was going to just get rid of the jacket but I don’t know what possessed me to hang on to it. Nevertheless I made the right decision because it looks awesome, washes well and luckily enough always on trend. Today I have aimed for a casual look pairing it with skinny cargos and boots. It’s nothing revolutionary but the point here is you don’t need new clothes to look fashionable.

SO SIMPLE

Hello lovelies

I set to work with basics for comfort. The outfit is so simple I thought I’d pair it with my much neglected leopard booties.

Hello gorgeous

It’s Monday….again.

Not to over spill the beans but life seems a struggle at the moment for various reasons. I know I’m strong enough to get through these obstacles because in the scheme of things I have a wonderful family, supportive friends, the Internet and an awesome little wardrobe. I can think of more things to appreciate however if it weren’t for these things the world would be a miserable place.

This week let us all appreciate the good things in life and all to hell with the bad.

Kicking off the working week here’s what I wore.

FOR EVERYDAY WEAR

Hello and happy Monday!

During my glorious shopping days, I loved purchasing all my work basics at Zara, Anthropologie and Banana Republic. Although Zara finally opened stores in Australia we’re still patiently waiting on the others. Just as well since I have banned myself from buying any new clothing this year but….I am really hoping for Anthropolie to be here some day.

Today’s outfit for work is a neat casual ensemble of overseas purchases. A blazer and bag from London, top and trousers from the States and shoes from Hong Kong. It doesn’t sound healthy for our Australian economy however we unfortunately aren’t as competitive on stock or price.

Next year, whilst I do plan to refresh my wardrobe, I’m thinking I could do more trift (I happen to live in area full of amazing vintage stores) shopping locally. That way I will be throwing money into our economy and still contributing to less consumerism. This plan sounds exciting already doesn’t it?
