OH ALICE!

Alice5Alice8Alice6

I’m wearing: Hydros Crop top by Alice McCall (found here) || Vintage Levis denim cut offs (similar here) || Black knit bird embroidered cardigan by Zara || Earrings from Asos || Pumps by Zara

Hello all

If I could name one place I was absolutely dying to shop at during my shopping drought last year it was Alice McCall. You can imagine my excitement when my husband gave me an extremely generous Alice McCall voucher for Christmas last year. Smart boy!

I fell in love with Alice a few years ago during a sample sale that just happened to be next door to my workplace. To this date, I still have some of those pieces and I’m proud to now be adding another to the closet. This Hydros crop top stole my heart and was worth absolutely every cent. I love it and since it’s current season you can still grab one for yourself.

Thanks for reading everyone and as always I love your comments.

HYPNOTIC

Hey all

How was the weekend for everyone? Ours was enjoyable but hectic. As my weekend starts on Friday, it was decided that I use the one just passed to get my car fixed and whilst it gets fixed, head in to the local shopping centre and hangout with my baby girl. At the car drop off, I was told that I would not have my car for the ENTIRE day. OMG. I was in the burbs so had no choice but to spend a whole day at the shopping centre! Naturally I was quite excited however as it turns out, I hated the now rare experience. I blew so much money that day on food, on the movies, on more food and on accessories that I’m certain I did not need. I have been so use to a shopping free experience this year that now I feel absolutely guilty when I do shop….even if it’s not breaching my commitment to no new clothes.

So those beautiful accessories that I’m so guilty about…The damage was all done in Lovisa! Too be honest, this was my first time purchasing anything from this store. I am therefore unsure of the quality of their products however I do know I’m in love with so many of their current pieces. I splurged on some great statement necklaces and keen to feature them in my upcoming blog posts beginning with the one today.

The beaded bib is colourful and busy so I thought it would be fitting to wear over what my husband calls the hypnotic dress (because of the white swirls) from one of my favourite designers.

Since there was so much going on with the bib and dress, I didn’t want a pattern overkill so kept it simple when it came to my blazer, bag and shoes.

Hope you love the look.

CLASH OF THE FLOWERS

Clash of the flowers2Clash of the flowers1Clash of the flowersClash of the flowers3Clash of the flowers5

Hello everyone

My friends often wonder how on earth I manage to get dressed, put my face on, sort my daughter out and take photographs for my blog before heading to work each day. While I’m pleased that we make it look effortless, it basically takes practice, effort, planning and a partner that helps out to make sure we are out the door quickly and in the office by 8am. Mind you, most days we get up at 7am and that’s a sleep in.

Any parent will tell you that some mornings are more tougher than others but,  I can honestly say that there isn’t one morning since my daughter has been born that I haven’t woken up with a smile on my face. Parenting and being a mum is soo bad yet so good at the same time and I wouldn’t have it any other way. My little one has made me a better person…a more appreciative person and someone that is more considerate and less selfish. Now I get to see life through her innocent eyes and have also re-discovered the child in me through our play dates. It’s absolutely amazing and I feel so lucky to have a beautiful girl and a husband that not only loves me to bits but helps me to get my shit together every single day.

Believe it or not, my lack of time in the mornings is a contributing factor to my creative sense of style or lack of. Unless I plan what I am going to wear the next day the night before, like this morning, I quickly put one together and what generally matters most is my choice of bag and shoes. When I’m rushed, all I know is that I want my outfit combination to be different to what I’ve worn previously. That is my thought process and it helps me with making a decision on what to wear in record time.

So guys, never mind my handbag…what do you think about todays clashing florals and my lime green pumps?

DARK ELEGANCE

vintage2vintage5vintage3Vintage vintage13vintage15vintage10vintage14vintage16vintage1

Hello everyone

Last week hubby and I attended our dear friends wedding which was set at a winery in Red Hill, Victoria. Since most of my photographs are set in my backyard, we thought that after the ceremony we’d have the perfect opportunity to take advantage of a different backdrop for my blog.

I am so glad we did, because, aside from the gorgeous scenery, this blog now features a post of me in evening wear with a pair of knock out heels that have been in storage for I can’t even remember how long now. As elegant as I felt, there was some behind the scenes touch ups that needed to happen before any photos were taken. Like every other women in heels at the wedding, my feet were muddy, and my heels kept digging into the grass at the vineyards.  As a result I had disgusting feet and the tip of my heels were dressed with big balls of grass. So at the first opportunity I got, I went straight to my car and got out my baby wipes to clean my shoes and feet. My husband thought it was hilarious but I tell you what, even if you don’t have kids, go get yourself some baby wipes and leave them in your car or bag because you never know when you will need them. I distinctively remember giving a total stranger some baby wipes during my last overseas trip. I won’t go into the details but it was just as well I had some on me!

Now to this dress! This beautiful vintage number is beaded from top to bottom.  I love it so much and it kills me that I don’t get to wear it very often. It was purchase several years ago and since then it has become my go to wedding dress.  I have now worn it to three of the four weddings I have been to in the last three years and every time I wear it, it feels like the very first time.

What do you think of this number? I’d love to hear your comments.

Thanks for reading.

DON’T WE ALL LOVE TO SHOP ONLINE?!

Hello beautiful and welcome to the always anticipated weekend.

image

Several months ago I noticed a Saks on 5th Avenue online sale. I know! Believe me, I did have the idea of unsubcribing to all my favourite shopping sites but never did so as it turns out, temptation hit. I’d added a whole heap of items for my little girl to the basket and then somehow ended up looking at things for myself….as you do! Don’t worry, no new clothes…only a new pair of B by Brian Atwood flats. Just as well my commitment doesn’t extend to shoes and accessories.

I have had these pair in the box for months now and today my feet decided it was time to christen them.

Given it’s the weekend, I am my comfortable self in jeans and an oversized boyfriend t-shirt. For something different, I decided to crop my top by tucking it into the side if my bra and then slipped over my favourite parka for that extra wind shield.

FLORAL OVER FLORAL

Hello hello

I have been very active on the blog of late. For me I find it quite therapeutic to sit down after dinner and write a blog post about what I wore on the day so I hope you enjoy reading them.

You may have seen this very dress on my black and white challenge in March this year. Today I’ve decided to layer it with a floral cardigan and a cute pair of ballet flats. Despite my hairstyle this outfit made me feel very lady like.

DENIM NEVER DIES

20130914-214831.jpg20130914-214921.jpg20130914-214958.jpg

Happy Tuesday everyone!

This week I’m sticking with the theme of wearing my oldest clothes. Yesterday is was my plaid dress from Cue and today it’s my decade old denim biker jacket from Bardot.

There was once upon a time where I was going to just get rid of the jacket but I don’t know what possessed me to hang on to it. Nevertheless I made the right decision because it looks awesome, washes well and luckily enough always on trend. Today I have aimed for a casual look pairing it with skinny cargos and boots. It’s nothing revolutionary but the point here is you don’t need new clothes to look fashionable.
