THAT SKIRT!

Hey all

I started blogging when my daughter was a mere 10 months old. She wasn’t so mobile at that stage so taking photographs without the constant photo bombing just never happened until recently. My little one now loves to step in front of the camera and say ‘cheeese’. At first, I found it a distraction but now, I love it and as you can see we get the opportunity to take some fabulous yet candid mother and daughter snaps.

I think these photographs are so wonderful (biased of course), that I may feature her more often on my blog going forward. What do you think?

My outfit, was all for the Master Chef High Tea experience at Crown Entertainment Centre yesterday. The sun was shining so it only felt appropriate to be wearing something with so much colour. I was also quite excited about giving this skirt a whirl for the first time. It was an impulse buy about 3 years ago and after I bought it, I fell pregnant so there you go. Excuses aside, buying clothes but not necessarily wearing them was an old habit of mine and thank goodness I have kicked it to the curb by committing to my new years resolution.

My blog does feature quite a few maxi skirt meets hi-tops looks as seen here and here. The sneakers are mostly for comfort and height (so perfect, it avoids having my skirt dragged along the floor) but I also love that it screams feminine meets street style when paired with a skirt.

A LITTLE VINTAGE

Hello gorgeous

I hope that you have had an amazing weekend. For me, it’s certainly nice to have a break from work and more time with my little family.

This beautiful photo set was taken by my husband before I set out for a massive high tea eating fest with my girlfriends at the Conservatory, Crown. It’s absolutely freezing in Melbourne and indeed a coat is needed but I figured that I was going to be indoors anyway so didn’t bother with it.

High tea calls for a lady like outfit and since I don’t get dressed as often as I use to, I wanted to put together an outfit that I had never worn before. The result was a dreamy vintage look.

CLASHING PATTERNS

My last day of the working week! If you can’t already tell by the pictures. I am absolutely exhausted. Todays outfit is an attempt to pull off an outfit with some clashing patterns. I am sure I can do better with the items in my wardrobe, however it’s a start.

ONE ITEM FOUR WAYS – WEEK ONE

DRESS TO IMPRESS – SAME DRESS, 4 WAYS

For those that have just started following my blog – I decided that (for various reasons) my 2013 New Years resolution would be to not purchase any new items of clothing for an entire year. So far it has been challenging yet so satisfying as I become more creative with my outfits.

This week, I chose one of my oldest dresses by Cue to take on the first week of the 1item, 4 ways challenge. I wore this same dress in a different way for this entire working week, and not one person in the office noticed that it was the same dress which is great! In fact, I hope that they continue not to notice me repeatedly wearing the same items for the next 3 weeks of this February challenge.

Dress by Cue

Day 35 – Layer the dress with a colourful blouse and patterned blazer. This works extremely well when you are working with a simple dress.

Day 36 – Wear a short sleeve blouse underneath and couple it with a cardigan over the top. Definitely gives it that cute appeal.

Blouse by Barkins | Cardigan by Avocado | Shoes by Nine West | Bag by Burberry

Day 37 – Anyone ever think of wearing a skirt over your dress? When I told my husband that I was going to do this, he thought I was being silly but to his surprise he loved the result of this combination.

Day 38 – With my new addiction to wearing tops over dresses, I did just that. With a pretty black blouse worn over my dress, I also added some essential accessories so that it wouldn’t look so boring.

Whether you have a small or massive wardrobe, I am hoping that after reading this blog, you are considering to do as I do and begin to mix and match more often. You will be surprised how satisfying it really is and just think of all the money you could save for things you REALLY need.

Until next week. xx
