It has been an absolute crazy couple of weeks. Mostly I’ve been a mummy to my babes but then there’s also managing my small business and the blog.

When it comes to the blog, there’s a lot of work and effort behind the scenes. Additionally, for me there’s also the added pressure when it’s my time poor husband that takes the images and we have 2 kids rollin’ with us. But we push through because I love it, it provides me with a creative outlet and also allows me to connect with inspirational people all over the world.

After bub number 2 arrived,  we’ve learnt to be more efficient. Photoshoots now tend to happen locally if not on the way to or after a family outing. These images were taken in the evening at a local street art strip after some mid week Thai.

I completed my old meets new outfit with a much needed statement necklace. Having always been a fan of jewellery, it’s always nice to have quality pieces that you can use to jazz up an outfit. This particular piece was from My Boutique – an online store with a load of fashionable jewellery at affordable prices. So go on and check them out.

For all the bloggers out there, kids or no kids – how do you keep it up? I’d really love to hear from you.

Hi lovers

The beauty about vintage finds is there’s never lack of colour. You can absolutely layer on extra colours to create an outrageous outfit or tone it down with some simple accessories. What I’ve always loved is clashing patterns. Case in point, an awesome green floral playsuit with a sheer green leopard print scarf. Matched with a hat, sunnies,  chunky boots and backpack.

GreenonGreen_MM_2From next weekend, the Mode Madison vintage collection ( including this playsuit) will be available for you to try on and purchase at the Lost and Found Market, 511 Lygon Street, Brunswick East. Make sure you pay us a visit whenever you’re in the hood.

Hey lovers

Recently, I had the pleasure of collaborating with My Boutique, an online store owned and operated by local Victorian Dani. My Boutique was founded in 2010 and stocks deliciously fashionable clothing, jewellery, accessories and homewares. The best part is, nothing is over $100 so it’s all absolutely affordable.

Through styling some of their current season pieces, I also had the honour of getting to know a little more about Dani, her online store and where she draws her inspiration from.

In three words, describe yourself

Passionate, ambitious, positive.

Tell us about My Boutique and the inspiration behind creating your own online business

I’ve always loved fashion but never thought I’d end up in the fashion industry. My parents run their own business and I’ve always learnt good business practice and buying skills through them. My business started as hobby but over the past year it is quickly becoming more than that! Online seemed like the way to go as I was (and still am) working full time when I started My Boutique – I wouldn’t have it any other way.

What are some of your most popular/favourite pieces in the My Boutique collection?

My most popular and favourite would have to be my Harper skirts. They are the perfect mid-length skirt that is flattering on anyone. I love the Onyx print the best and it seems my customers do too!

Where do you draw your style inspiration from?

Everywhere! My travels, Instagram, my friends and basically anywhere I go. I’ll see a cute style of clothing or a colour that pops out at you and I create it into my own flavour.

Can you give us a little insight into what we can expect as part if the AW collection?

My Boutique won’t be doing an AW collection this year. There are even bigger and better things coming for Spring/Summer so I’m trying to utilise the break over the cooler months to prepare myself for another expansion of My Boutique. Watch this space.

Do you have any advice for those who want to start their own business?

Keep at it. There’s going to be times where you make little to no money and things can seem like they’re getting nowhere. All you need is passion and patience and everything else will follow.

Playsuits and jumpsuits are a great summer staple and then there’s this amazing laser cut clutch which comes in an array of gorgeous colours and designs. Both from My Boutique which I’ve decidedly styled with a biker jacket, platform boots and hair bow for that edgy retro feel. Head over to to shop their collection.

Hey lovers

For a little inspiration, I turned to google for a source of vintage fashion icons. I came across images of the likes of Twiggy, Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor. Jackie O however was the one who caught my eye. In particular, it was an image of her wearing a headscarf. Immediately, I felt the urge to continue with my research on this stylish icon, and came across a suite of other images of her in a headscarves and oversized sunglasses. Obsessed with this look, I decided to emulate it over the weekend during a brunch outing with the family. It honestly felt so elegant, I will never know why I’d never tried this before. Once more, the scarf provided a nice source of shade and protection for my head.

As we strolled down the street to take these images, I received sweet smiles and head turns from those passing by.  Most likely because it was Sunday morning and you don’t normally see someone walking down the street all dressed up in my hood at that hour. I’d however like to think that I gave them all a pleasant surprise.

Paired with a simple red vintage 80’s dress from the Mode Madison collection, I chose a simple black and white floral scarf as a contrast and finished of the look with large sunglasses, a 60’s purse bag and heels. I will definitely bring on this look a little more often during sunny summer days and add on those extra layers during the cold winter months.

Thanks for dropping in and I hope you love this look too.

Hey lovers

Most vintage dresses come from an era where clothes were tailored rather than mass produced.  Hence the unique sizing in each individual garment. On that note,  it also varies from decade to decade. Confused yet?! My tip is to not look at the sizing and just try it on. Then once you’ve tried it on, don’t be afraid to own it.

Having had a baby recently, my body now carries curves that I’ve embraced with open arms. I don’t give a shit that I’m weightier, feel absolutely no rush to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight and try to not let people get me down. After all I did just pop out a human being. My friends have commented on how great I look (thank you) and I believe that has to do with my confidence and dressing for my figure.  With this new body, I now also have the opportunity to strut in vintage outfits that would have otherwise been to large me a year ago. Score!

Hope you love the look.

Mode Madison stocks a delicious collection of vintage dresses and I’m making it my mission to show them to you.

This gorgeous cotton midi dress features pockets on either side and a large bow at the back. How adorable!  I’m absolutely in love with it and extremely excited to have this piece as part of the collection. It will be listed soon on so keep your eyes peeled for the ‘Floral Bow’ dress.

Hey lovers

Vintage dresses are far from being frumpy. In fact, when styled right, you can turn the granniest looking vintage piece into something that’s both stylish and unique. Aside from the great quality, the best part is that most vintage dresses from the 70’s and 80’s era also come with pockets.

When shopping for vintage, you really can’t judge a piece on the racks. In fact you need to either try it on or be able to imagine it with accessories, other wardrobe items and the perfect pair of shoes.

I wanted to give you a little inspiration so have decided to style a Laura Ashley piece from my Mode Madison collection. Although created specifically for a wedding guest look, the result of the photographs from this shoot reminded me of Frida Kahlo. All I’m missing are the eyebrows.

The ‘covered in floral’ vintage dress is one of a kind and available for puchase on for $49.00 AUD plus shipping.

Thanks for reading and I hope you love this look I’ve created. xx
